About
Hurricane Beryl has devastated communities, causing extensive damage to homes, livelihoods, and resources. Recovery will be a lengthy process for many, particularly concerning essential services like electricity. While the government prioritizes restoring main systems, individual residents may face prolonged challenges due to financial constraints and limited resources for any damage that is on the side of residents.
The disaster's timing exacerbates its impact. Occurring during the summer break, when children are typically home and parents prepare for back-to-school, the emotional burden on families is intensified. This strain is particularly acute for single-mother households, a prevalent demographic in Caribbean communities.
Our initiative aims to alleviate the immediate needs of these vulnerable groups. We will prioritize electrical service support, food supply, and back-to-school assistance, enabling parents and guardians to focus on more pressing concerns. If additional resources permit, we will collaborate with the local church to provide a summer school program, offering children a safe and engaging environment while their parents rebuild their lives. Additionally, we will extend support to elderly residents who may require additional assistance during this challenging time.
