LDH smartphone fundraising appeal 💕

For the last 2+ years, we have relied upon the wonderfully generous community of Lewisham (and beyond) to sustain our supplies of smartphones. With multiple crises impacting the country to a greater extent than ever before (cost of living, Ukraine, homelessness + the increasing numbers of people seeking sanctuary in the UK), we are hoping to dramatically improve our supply of smartphones.

The need to respond has become ever more critical in recent weeks, with many organisations (far larger than us!) now directly referring people to us as a potential source of hope and support. Rather than constrain what we do, and close doors based on geography or other things, we would rather be ambitious. Because every phone we provide is an opportunity to search for work, engage with public services (and avoid Universal Credit sanctions), connect with family and friends...and simply be a part of a world that is ever more digital.

This fund is solely reserved for the purchasing of such devices - with basic Android Go smartphones just £30 each at the current time, with refurbished flagship devices (with excellent performance, screens & cameras) just £50. Whilst we know ever more people are hurting right now, we really hope those who are in a position to do so will give us the tools to respond to this increasingly critical necessity.
