About

Our mission is to expand global access to AI systems education through open-source tools, hands-on learning, and a deep focus on real-world engineering.

Our collective is dedicated to expanding access to high-quality education in AI engineering globally by developing and maintaining "Machine Learning Systems: Principles and Practices of Engineering Artificially Intelligent Systems," an open-source textbook 📚 and hands-on learning platform 👩‍💻.

What began as a Harvard course has evolved into a global movement, with tools like the Tiny🔥Torch minimalist ML framework and TinyML kits 📦 empowering students to learn by building real AI systems.

Our content teaches core engineering concepts in AI systems, including data collection, model design, optimization, and deployment, through a systems-first lens. Students learn systems thinking. Our materials are already being used in university courses, workshops, and self-guided programs worldwide.

These resources are already in use in university classrooms, online programs, and workshops worldwide, with a special focus on supporting educators and learners in underrepresented and under-resourced communities. Everyone deserves the opportunity to understand and develop intelligent AI systems.

We will always keep everything free, open-source, and globally inclusive.

Your support helps us:
  • Develop new learning units and kits
  • Sustain open infrastructure
  • Fund contributors and educators globally
  • Expand access across the Global South and beyond

By supporting our mission and joining this open-source education collective, you’re helping to democratize AI engineering education — one learner, one lab, and one chapter at a time 📖.
