Hello, OSC community! Hope everyone is having a fantastic start to April.
I'm here with some Open Source Collective org updates for you. As we mention below, we will be providing more written OSC updates based on the feedback we received from our recent collective experience survey. Each month, we'll share updates and notes highlighting relevant operational happenings at Open Source Collective, your project's fiscal host.

As we mention below, we will be providing more written OSC updates based on the feedback we received from our recent collective experience survey. Each month, we'll share updates and notes highlighting relevant operational happenings at Open Source Collective, your project's fiscal host.
🔄 Transition to a new ticketing system
The OSC team is transitioning to a new ticketing system. This has been a work in progress and we will be finalizing the move this week. While we anticipate a smooth transition, please be aware that there may be slight delays in response times during this period. Our commitment remains to respond to emails within 3 days. 📊 Collective survey insights
A huge thank you to everyone who participated in our recent collective survey. Based on your input, here are a couple of immediate changes we’ll be focused on:
- There is a strong preference for written and video materials and updates over live community calls. This feedback aligns with our understanding of the challenges posed by time zone differences and the busy schedules we all navigate. We'll still have live calls occasionally, but they'll be more focused on specific topics important to our collectives.
- The results also provide insights into the areas where we can improve our communication channels. We believe our new ticketing system will be a significant step in streamlining communication and making it easier to address your needs. We will also keep you informed through regular written monthly updates, ensuring you’re always in the loop about what’s happening in our community and at OSC.
🏆 Collective survey winners
As a thank you for participating in our collective survey, we randomly selected 5 collectives to receive $30 USD. The collectives chosen were: OpenAddresses, Roden, Task, jMonkeyEngine, and FOSS Contributors.
🎥 FOSS Backstage
In our continuous effort to support the ecosystem, OSC recently sponsored the recording of FOSS Backstage’s Design sessions. This segment of the FOSS Backstage conference is now available for everyone to view online. You can check out the FOSS Backstage sessions here and the Design sessions here. Special shout out to Ruth Cheesley from Mautic, who spoke about their changes in governance models, which you can view on the first playlist.
