A Thank You & An Urgent Ask
Published on February 15, 2024 by JL

Hey everybody,

Many of you have already seen and responded to our urgent announcement on social media on 2/13/2024. Part of it read:

“We are temporarily closing our mutual aid request form.

"Our current mutual aid fund and the frequency in which we receive donations have left us unequipped to handle incoming requests – we average 3-4 requests (totaling about $1200) every week. We have reached the point of rationing funds in $100 increments.

"We need our community’s help right now.”

Since that message only 2 days ago, we have received over $3,500 in donations. Thank you to everybody who has donated before, to everybody who donated for the first time, and to everybody who encouraged somebody else to help us out.

$3,500 makes a huge difference! However, we expect it to cover less than a month’s worth of requests. What happens after that? We don’t want to continue the cycle of running out of money, desperately calling out for more, and then running out again in less than a month.

That is why our primary ask right now is for you, and everyone in your life, to make recurring monthly donations. Right now, we have 45 people who make recurring donations that add up to over $530 per month. Our current goal is to have enough people pitch in that we have $1000 in monthly, recurring donations. Our community needs consistency and stability, not just floods of one-time donations. This is the first step towards reopening the aid request form, and keeping it open.

We also ask any current Clark students reading this to join us – fill out this form to apply. We are a horizontal, consensus-based group of students who work hard, dream of a better world, and care for one another. We would love to expand our community.

You can always access our list of resources here and our Financial Statement, where we track every dollar that enters and exits the Collective, here.

Let’s keep taking care of ourselves and each other!

In solidarity,
The See You Collective
