About
Extinction Rebellion is an international apolitical network using non-violent direct action to persuade governments to act on the Climate and Ecological Emergency. Extinction Rebellion King's Lynn & West Norfolk is a local group that welcomes all to get involved in creative action and make our voices heard.
At the core of Extinction Rebellion’s philosophy is nonviolent civil disobedience. We promote civil disobedience and rebellion because we think it is necessary- we are asking people to find their courage and to collectively do what is necessary to bring about change.
We have three demands in the UK:
- TELL THE TRUTH
All institutions must communicate the danger we are in. We must be clear about the extreme cascading risks humanity now faces, the injustice this represents, its historic roots, and the urgent need for rapid political, social and economic change. - ACT NOW
Every part of society must act now to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2025 and begin protecting and repairing nature immediately. The whole of society must move into a new precautionary paradigm, where life is sacred and all are in service to ensuring its future. - BE THE CHANGE
We demand a culture of participation, fairness and transparency. Only the common sense of citizens will help us navigate the challenging decisions ahead. Citizens’ Assemblies are the tool we need to establish the policies for climate and ecological justice.
